Mika had a trip to Cayuga Lake. Does she like swimming? Or does she like a trip to the Ice Cream stand more?

Walter and Monkey had a field trip! The boys and I paid a visit to Sue, a Ben’s Place community member, at her home. The pups were on their best behavior and loved all the attention.
Thank you Sue for being such a gracious hostess. We’ll be back!

This last week was bittersweet; I had to say goodbye to Brinley, but got to celebrate Walter’s 1 Year Gotchya Day Anniversary. Wins and losses.

“To live in this world you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and when the time comes to let it go, to let it go” — Mary Oliver
Over 2 short weeks, I had to say goodbye to Stanley and Buddy. Such sweet boys, such huge losses. Go with love, my boys. Go with love.

Gotchya Day! Say hello to Wyatt (formerly River). This sweet fellow was found abandoned at the side of the road. He spent the last 3 months in the shelter/foster care, but is in his forever home now. Welcome Wyatt!

What a week! We got to welcome our newest dog, Brinley, to the pack, warmer days means more outside time, and a huge care package from an old friend arrived. Thank you Ruthann!

Buddy celebrated his one year Gotchya Day Anniversary this week. Hard to believe it was just a year ago that, on his first day here, he and Remy spent all afternoon running back and forth in the yard. We celebrated with a walk, a trip to Dunkin’s, cake and ice cream, and, of course, lots of cuddles!

Monkey had his annual vet visit last week. Great news, he got a clean bill of health. His congestive heart failure is stable, and otherwise he’s in great shape for a 13 year old.
We celebrated the good news with a trip through the Dunkin’s drive thru, because good dogs deserve treats!

By the end of February/beginning of March, Anya finally got used to her new home and settled down nicely. Mika was settled from day one, so I’m glad to report both new girls are doing GREAT! They’re such lovely dogs, I’m grateful to have them here at the sanctuary.
Our potential next resident, Axe, was adopted by a lovely couple who fell in love with him during their meet and greet. While I’m sorry he couldn’t come live with us, I’m happy for him and his new family.

Congratulations to Jerry, who received the most virtual roses during our Valentine’s Day fundraiser. Apparently Jerry made LOTS of friends during his stay at CNY SPCA, and it’s not hard to see why.
Thanks to your generous support of the fundraiser, I’m in talks with Anita’s Stevens Swan Humane Society in Utica NY about adopting Axe, another senior dog who needs a soft landing. Stay tuned!
